The concept design stage for this palisade high security fence included the following key considerations:

• Construction adjacent to significant in-ground gas infrastructure
• Construction adjacent to an active rail yard and rail corridor
• Working within an active depot and significant night works
• Significant micro-tunnelling for the relocation of sewer pipes
• Variable ground conditions and heavy rainfall

Our ‘order of cost’ included an estimate of costs, the project scope, general specification, health and safety requirements, assumptions and further investigative work required during the ‘develop’ stage.

We provided recommendations for cost-effective consultants including a draftsman, structural engineer, geotechnical engineer and a building surveyor.

We managed the design team and performed site inspections to confirm the location and depth of in-ground services including power, water, gas, Telstra, NBN, sewer and stormwater.

The design of this palisade high security fence triggered several permit requirements including council and authority report and consent, build over easement consent and a planning permit.

We managed the building permit application process on behalf of our clients and provided them with copies of all stamped documentation, permits, insurances and certificates.

The project comprised the construction of a new palisade high security fence to the northern, southern, eastern and western boundaries of Powercor’s depot in North Geelong. The project scope included:

• 800 lineal metres of high security palisade fencing
• 303 posts – 909 rails – 5,100 palisades – 17,100 bolts
• 317 lineal metres of reinforced concrete plinth
